Any chance of it ever reopening? Was such a great course.

I have accepted the following truths.
1. There is a 99% chance The Bluffs will NEVER reopen as a golf course.
2. In the 1% chance it does - - it will NEVER be that beautiful layout you remember.
3. Every three months someone will start a thread asking if The Bluffs will reopen.
This is the way.

What took it down? Is there a thread here about it? I saw the billboard and figure you have to really piss someone off enough to get a billboard.

An option to purchase was agreed upon by buyer a few weeks ago. The buyer has long history with Bluffs and is credible. Intent is to return the course to condition of its prominent days. He is raising money; it is still a long journey ahead…but there is renewed hope.

There’s no clearing that has to be done…..but the ground has to be reworked since it’s been let go for so long. That’s expensive.
It’s a complete renovation project, which probably is a ton of money now.
If someone wants to restore it to the original design (with 5 acres of greens and deep faced bunkers), well good luck with that. It never really worked before, why would it work now?

Yes it was. Is it 17 that's a par 3 with the elevated tee box? One of my favorite holes on that course.
I remember WAY back when it either first developed or just beginning development riding out there with my oldest friend and his parents to take a look at it.
They ended up being some of the first residents IIRC. Friend's dad died during COVID , but his mom still lives out there.
Matter of fact when my buddy got married, the wedding party stayed at the hotel and played a scramble the day before.
Place was great in its hey day.

I have been playing golf for 35 years and had a fox steal my ball off 10th green (thinking it was an egg)
I have played 63 of the current top 100 and think 11,12,13 might be the best 3 holes on the planet, the area was called sweet wood hollow! Perhaps the most beautiful spit in Louisiana! God I miss it!
