Same here. One time the wire was corroded, other time it failed. Ended up bypassing it like the seat and parking brake switches.

Funny that you would say that. I inherited my dad's zero turn when he died. He had so many things by passed I couldn't make heads or tails what was going on. He was from the old school of just winging it to you get it started. Was really fun when you heard a book and fire was shooting out. I said the hell with that and got this mower. Should have gone with the john dear. This is a craftsman z5800. Been great until last week.

Your right. Didn't notice there was one till you mentioned it. Got a lot of good feedback from everyone here. Going to look over switches after the rain stops whenever that is. Looking at up to seven inches up here and flooding.

had this problem and it was a bad fuel solenoid under the carb.

Thanks. I looked on YouTube and a guy there also had the same exact thing happen on the same lawnmower. He even changed his carburetor too. So it looks like a electrical issue. I came here because I knew there were so baws on here that are a lot smarter then me when it comes to mechanical issues. Thanks again.

My snapper does not have a fuel solenoid to isolate the gas draining into the engine , As a result, when gas float sticks open. the entire fuel tank drains into the engine eventually the crankcase. Engine does not like gas in crank case and really runs bad with lots of wet black crap out the exhaust. Rather than rebuild the carb, I installed a stop valve in the fuel line to carb and just turn it off when not in service. It's worked fine for the last two years with this approach.

If the solenoid on your mower is to prevent gas flow when not in use, when you disable it, consider a manual stop valve as a substitute. Ace hrdw will sell you the parts for 8.78 $

If it ran for a little ways then died then it is a fuel issue. My dad’s mower did this and the outlet from the fuel tank was almost 100% clogged up. After it sat for a while, you could start it again. If you can start it with starter fluid then it’s probably not electrical. Could also be the fuel pump.

It's getting fuel. No clogs. I have a cut off switch but haven't put in on yet. Put a new fuel pump on just in case. Bought a kit for 49.00 that came with all the filters, cut off valve, plugs, carburetor. Hardest part was getting the rods off old carburetor. Thanks you tube.
