If it ran for a little ways then died then it is a fuel issue. My dad’s mower did this and the outlet from the fuel tank was almost 100% clogged up. After it sat for a while, you could start it again. If you can start it with starter fluid then it’s probably not electrical. Could also be the fuel pump.

It's getting fuel. No clogs. I have a cut off switch but haven't put in on yet. Put a new fuel pump on just in case. Bought a kit for 49.00 that came with all the filters, cut off valve, plugs, carburetor. Hardest part was getting the rods off old carburetor. Thanks you tube.
