I think the meme format is multilayered.
It's acknowledging that their lives are (in a way) shittier and their parents had it (in a way) better.
But what I think it misses (although I hope not) is that their parents were happier because they hadn't bought into the lie of progressivism.
It is a poison pill that promises to promote but only punishes.
