Tickets will have to be expensive to offset the lack of beer sales revenue

Tell me how I know you haven’t been to SLC in the last decade. This is an aging take. The LDS are significantly outnumbered now in SLC. Provo, completely different but SLC is very metropolitan.

There are a lot of archaic uneducated takes in this thread and all Utah threads.

It sounds like Phoenix will get an expansion team as long as Meruelo builds an arena in the next 5 years.

I was in Provo for work in March for 4 days. Most boring place I’ve ever been. Tried finding a place to go in downtown after dinner but there was nothing open after 9pm. My group asked the waiter at Communal for a good bar to have a drink and he literally told us to just go back to our hotel. So we go back and there’s like 200 people there. Apparently it’s the only decent bar around. Inside a hotel. In a college town. WTF? Unfortunately even that one closed at 11. On the plus side I tried a local beer that was pretty good. It was called Polygamy Porter…with a name like that I couldn’t resist. Lol

Are you aware of that college’s religious affiliation.

This is as bad as someone going to New Orleans and being shocked that there are bars.

Provo is 90% LDS. What exactly were you expecting, the degeneracy of like Frenchmen Street?

Next Door at Block is a high end bar, and there are two dive bars: city limits and abg libations.

It’s too bad they’re not exactly like you are. They really need to work on that.

People are telling on themselves heavy in this thread. “Omg Utah sucks. I couldn’t be drunk in public 24/7.”

I like a couple (or more) drinks routinely dont get me wrong, but if youre bothered that you have limited drinking opportunities after 11 pm, maybe you should think about priorities.

The fact is, even in Provo you can typically find a place to have a drink at most reasonable times.

A few years ago my brother and I were in a restaurant and ordered a couple of drinks. We were told that it was illegal to sell until after 1pm. Not sure how this would affect afternoon games.

Perhaps their new name could be the CoyUtes.

Per the State Agency's website.

Restaurants can serve at 11:30 AM on weekdays and 10:30 AM on weekends. Bars and Sports venues can start at 10 AM.

Doesnt seem to be any issues.

I went there once. Had a good time without drinking.

The scenery was amazing.

It doesn't make sense to have a hockey team in a town that routinely hits 120F on the thermometer more times than not. Winter is 80F there usually at it's coolest. I'll never co-sign bs when they try to put NHL teams in places like that.

I've had an easier time drinking in general in SLC than I've had in many rural areas of the south right now.

My point is I've lived in Utah 25 years and have never had any problems with the alcohol laws here.
