Years ago when Butch Davis left Miami to go to the Browns Miami named Larry Coker HC.

He won the NC the next year with all the talent Davis had recruited but then fell off a cliff. Is Johnson another Larry Coker?

Jay had success at Arizona. I don't think the Ed O type of comparisons are accurate.

Johnson was a head coach at a Power 5 school before coming to LSU. It’s not the same situation.

Wait - you’re actually comparing CPM to Butch Davis? You guys are really something
You realize half of this is CPM’s fault, right? His lack of recruiting high end players his last 2 yrs forced CJJ to rely on the portal more than necessary

Jay made the CWS at Arizona in his 6th year. He was the CWS runner-up his first season, made the tourney as a 2 seed his 2nd year, then missed the tourney his 3rd and 4th. 5th was Covid cut season. Seems to be all or nothing type of thing but the fact he made the CWS in his 6th year means you can’t really say he’s only won with other coach’s players.
