I’d prefer about a 3 year notice. Enough to do whatever it takes to get affairs in order and live life conservative enough to ensure my family will never have to worry about money or security.
That will also give enough time to give it all I have to the company I work for and ensure my role is transitioned in good hands and in a better place than I found it.

If had 3 years I'd tell my company they have 2-3 weeks of my complete time and the next 3 years to get THEIR company set up. At that point its their legacy that they're responsible for, not yours.
