Neal, Pearson, Kling, and Frey.

If you were told their batting avg in sec play would be- .97, .229, .120, and .182 would you believe we would start 3-12 in conference play.

I don't think people had enough expectations of Frey, nor has he received enough consistent opportunity, to be included in this discussion.

That's really bad. Those are four guys that I'm sure CJJ thought would take big leaps in terms of production at the plate. It obviously hasn't happened. Going to be interesting to see what happens with these guys in the off season.

He's not the only one as the need to play matchups has hampered chemistry/getting into any kind of rhythm for some.

Cornerstones of what this team was supposed to turn into.
And they are legit terrible so far. It's pretty crazy.

Fair enough. Milam at .224 has many more conference at bats than Frey.

I'm willing to be patient on Milam though because he's clearly the best option at 2B and ideally the struggles now will lead to greatness down the road. He's also shown flashes.
I'm less patient with guys who have been given a lot of opportunities and seem to be stagnant in one case, or regressing to two others.

I know Kling is draft eligible. Are Frey or Neal? I can’t imagine them leaving for the draft, but who knows.

Herring, Jones, Guidry, and Kling

Oh shite. We don’t need to lose Herring or Jones!

Kling isn't going anywhere in the draft....speedy outfielders are a dime a dozen but the batting average is what seals the deal. And his progression at the plate has not happened this year so far.
Can you say, TEAM SLUMP?

Pearson has been the same since he got here. Kinda like Dugas, he gets hot for a while and you can’t take him out. And then he hits a cold streak.
I hate to bash any players, but Kling is the biggest disappointment.
I really thought he was going to be dependable for us. I thought Jones would be having a season more like Kling is having right now.

Dugas? That guy was an on-base machine, and his average and slugging were always good.

I think Pearson is the most disappointing of all. Dude was great his Freshman year and Jay talked about him prior to last year as someone we wouldn’t be able to take off the field. Then the bat just disappeared. I thought Pearson would be looked at like a Jared Mitchell type player by the end of his career. Hate it for the guy.
Kling is baffling to me. His is mental and he just can’t beat it. So is Neal’s. You can see it in his body language. Frey just needs more time at the plate, I think he can still be good for us.
Not one player on this team is a leader that makes plays when they are absolutely necessary. I think we lost a lot of leadership and some of the younger guys just expected winning was a right. Getting hit in the mouth has humbled a lot of them.

Some of the hitting woes remind me of some of the later Mainieri years where it seemed like no one could get it going, several guys hovering around .200.

In that season position preview at the start of Feb I remember those names were tagged to take the next step. At least Pearson is over .200 but everyone except for Frey (injury) is doing bad.

Teaching them might be needed at this point. You think—-!!!!!!?????

I can’t believe we went into this season with Pearson, Braswell, Kucharek and Milam as the only hope for our MIF.

Candidates for the portal along with many others imo
Think Jay's learned that you can't wait on development anymore in the portal age

I'm actually more interested in this coming offseason than I am the rest of this season.
