Interesting. I actually know little about LSUs academics. As one poster said.. It's known for athletics. I assumed that LSU has a strong chemical /petro chem engineering program(s) due to the resources around the area.
I know that rankings arent the end all but a starting point. Going by USNews WR rankings...LSU has the 7th best bet school in the SEC ( one place ahead of Miss St) and the 8th best engineering ( which is probably diluted to all engineering ). Who cares about MBA. So even in just SEC , LSU isn't in the top half of the programs you were highlighting.

ETA: unapologetically I will not let my daughters go to LSU. 1) There's no reason academically - there are better schools closer 2) I read about the crime and issues on here about BR and ...NO. ( Granted anything can happen anywhere but odds..) 3) I still distinctly remember the piss smell when I was LSUs indoor track for a meet and that was early 90s - doesnt sound like that has changed. But there are also other schools that are prohibited - Louisville for instance
