Hard to imagine any foreign country invading us at any substantial level, considering the size of our navy.

Our navy is less than 300 ships.
What’s protecting us is two huge oceans. No one has the transport capability to ship in large numbers of troops. Even in the War of 1812, Brits used hit and run tactics for land assaults.
