Isn’t it essentially a convection oven, only smaller?

Yes, which makes it very good for certain tasks. I was a skeptic and late to the party, but I’ve found the air fryer really good for roasting a small batch of veg like asparagus or Brussels sprouts, even baking potatoes, warming pizza, cooking frozen fries, etc. without heating up the main oven. Sort of like you can make toast in the oven, but a toaster is more efficient.

It’s been just ok when I tried to “fry” stuff like okra or eggplant that is breaded.

Once turned it wide open and put a ribeye in it, just because I didn’t want to grill in the rain. Flipped it every few minutes, and it turned out damned good.

I get the convenience. I have a convection toaster oven I’ve had since the 80’s. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing out on some fantastic new technology.

So essentially, they took my convection toaster oven, repackaged it into a less convenient form that holds much less and performs fewer functions, changed the name, and sold millions of them. Guess I’m just jealous I didn’t take advantage of the extreme gullibility of the average shopper.
