Nothing is moving in my neighborhood.... one of the nicer ones in South Shreveport almost to Stonewall. Some great houses but prices are insane...couple that with insane interest rates and I don't blame anyone for not buying right now

Insurance in Nola is a huge issue
Don’t forget Property Taxes in Orleans Parish. Both are out of control.

Mine jumped to 27k for homeowners for 2024 and I was told to expect another 25% increase in 2025

What’s the cause of this? Is it mainly hurricane floods? Damn that’s so expensive
1) lack of competition - no one wants to issue policies here
2) reinsurance costs.
A lot of companies failed after storms in 2020-2021

Mine jumped to 19.5k for 2024 and I told them to kick rocks. First place I got a quote from dropped it to 3k for a year. I was in shock. Then original company offered to lower it to 6k. Nope. Original company did lower my car insurance 3k a year. So this year I’m going to save 20k on what they originally wanted. F’ insurance companies.

Insurance & property tax higher than the damn principal.

You can blame state politicans for the schools and the infrastructure. Not sure how much you can blame the state for insurance prices.
Pretty sure they can control the cost here. There’s plenty of things they can put in place to protect the citizens. That’s what competent governments do.
