Pat McAfee is pushing the owner to name the team Soakers. The owner is going to have a bracket to let the fans select the name.

That would be the ultimate troll since that is the name of the Coyotes AHL affiliate.

Who's allowed to vote and how are they doing it? If it's just a free for all on the internet, history has shown that's not exactly a good idea. They better come up with 8 names that they absolutely like because internet trolls are going to stuff the ballot to make sure the worst option wins. Restricting it to Utah IPs isn't going to work either in the days of VPNs. And mail in ballots for Utah addresses and in person voting seems like the best way to prevent troll votes and keep it contained to the locals, but sounds kind of arduous for a sports team nickname since there will by 3 rounds of it if they're doing bracket style with 8 options.

Ballot now available with several pre approved names. I voted for Yeti, Mammoth, Hive, and Swarm. You have to give your name and email to submit your selections. Smith sold his Qualtrics company for $8B, so I'd say he's smart enough to come up with a bracket to keep out all of the trolls.
