Construction/upgrade costs have tripled in Louisiana for Entergy over the last 10 years.

As long as Entergy isn't overloading our grid with monstrous amounts of intermittent renewables, we will be in better shape than most areas of the country. And we still enjoy some of the lowest energy costs in the country.

But if we start buying into installing a bunch of solar and prematurely shutting down old coal and nat gas plants, we're doomed.

Funny you should mention that. This was on the agenda as well - "Request for certification and approval of the 2022 Solar Portfolio, including eligibility for inclusion in the Company's Geaux Green Option." Luckily, it was deferred.

LPSC AGENDA

Edited to include link to agenda.

I believe 5 new Natural Gas Generation facilities are being built.

Nearly all of the massive solar farms are private equity owned.

It looks like Entergy Louisiana only gets 3% of its power from coal right now. It could go away (and likely will shortly) and you wouldn't notice. Almost everyone has gotten rid of them because they are dirty and inefficient.
