When I was a kid in the 70’s and 80’s, my step-father lived a block off of Hollywood Street in NBR. The refinery smells gave me headaches almost every other visit to my mom and step-Dads residence. My head would pound and I lived on BC powders.

That's one of the strongest memories I have of Baton Rouge in that time frame. Every single time we would go into BR on the newly constructed 110 from our home in BFE E. Feliciana to visit relatives all over town, the rotten egg skunk fart smell that permeated everything near Exxon was never more noxious than in the Governors Mansion curves.
