I guess the article I shared about the cops barging into the wrong home and dragging a naked woman out of her bathtub wasn't off-putting to you either.

"Don't resist. Just submit and take it up in court."

"They are human and make mistakes."

"She shouldn't have been naked if she didn't want to be arrested naked."

Really dude? After how cops have treated conservatives the past four years? You love the cops that cried that January 6 was so traumatizing that their officers committed suicide? How about the cop in Texas that threw a grandmother to the ground for not wearing a mask in the bank? How about the Idaho cops that arrested Christians for daring to gather in an outdoor public place and sing hymns in protest of covid lockdowns?

We agree that police officers can overstep and over react. Where we disagree though, is that I view these as isolated incidents. I have defended police officers in civil rights lawsuits. The officers I defended never generally went around looking to violate people’s rights. It’s an exceptionally difficult, emotional, and dangerous job for officers who are out on patrol. Most just want to do their job and make it home to see their families.

If the cops pull you over and tell you they want to search your car are you going to step out and tell them go for it?

yes, because refusing to consent to a search gives them justification to search so they are searching it either way.

one way gets you in no trouble, and the other way is an admission you are hiding something, but they will still search your car either way

quote:

How about your house? They knock on your door

now you just went full retard, your house and your car are very different as far as consent to search, you can refuse consent to search your house, you cannot stop them from searching your car by refusing to consent

Not my experience at all,

Three times I have had a cop ask to search my truck during a routine traffic stop. Each time I have said "no."

Twice, the officer asked "why not," and I just said "the US Constitution." Watching the shocked look on their faces was priceless. They are clearly not accustomed to citizens knowing their right to refuse to consent to a search.

Thanks for admitting you didn't read the article.

He pulled her over for doing 37 in a 30.

A minute and a half later she is face down on the concrete.

Seems reasonable

No I didn't read the article, I watched the video. Journos sometimes lie.

Do you know what was said? Do you?

Fokoff.

People that defend shite like this always do 2 things that completely blow my mind.

1. They completely forget that the cop is supposed to be the trained professional in any cop/citizen interaction.

2. As in this case. Why in the frick is it so damned important that cops refuse to answer WHY they pulled you over until they get the ID?

OK. Let's say someone is training cops to get the ID first. Fine. That's cool. But, in the grand scheme...........when it comes down to a choice................go ahead and tell the person why they were pulled over....OR.....get violent............in what fricking universe is choice 2 the rational one?

Why? Just to prove they CAN make you do as they say?

Also. Cops constantly bitch that traffic stops are the most dangerous thing they do (no, they aren't). OK, if cops really believe that, WHY ON EARTH would they ever, given a choice, choose to increase the level of violence in a stop unnecessarily?

This is the worst kind of cop. On a power trip and showing how tough he is roughing up a woman.

If that was my wife that cop would get his arse kicked by a man in a ski mask one night.

You have no clue about the absolute scum that law enforcement encounter on a daily basis.
Is this some sort of weird free pass to just treat everyone they encounter like shite? Is that your angle?

This officer in the video got rough with the suspect and lost his job for it, isn’t that sufficient punishment?
Honestly, no, it isn't enough. He SHOULD be arrested.

We've NO idea what is being said.

Actually, we do.

The cop in this case said she wanted to know why she was pulled over and he refused to tell her until she gave her ID. The cop believes THIS justified his actions.

How does Dex feel about these cops in this recent OT thread? Would love to hear your opinion.

I can't speak for DEX but as someone who has a major problem with modern policing, I'm still not gonna give cops crap when the dumb assed suspect pulls a gun immediately.

I have never set foot out of the car for a traffic stop.

I have.

I made a LEGAL U Turn late at night in Honolulu. I have 4 other people in the car with me.

Cop pulls me over. This is back in my "back the blue" days so, I basically kissed his arse. He tells me he KNOWS my UTURN was legal but was suspicious I might have been drinking. How those 2 go together, I've no idea.

He asks me if had been drinking. My dumb arse told the truth. We all went out at about 7PM. I had 2 beers on arrival, and nothing else because I knew I'd be driving.

I swear to God, at this point, the cop has a complete come apart. Demands I get out of the car. Has me do a roadside. Has me blow(I was damned near 0.0. Almost seems pissed I'm not drunk. Spends like 5 minutes LECTURING me about drinking and driving and how I should "know better"..............again, did I mention I WAS NOT DRUNK!!! LOL

Trust me. That cop was a HORRIBLE cop. Back the Blue until it happens to you.

There are definitely A personality types who always are looking for an adrenaline rush & are just looking for a reason to get into any sort of confrontation and then there are the good cops who are the helpful sort.

Problem is, our society makes it impossible for only one type of cop to exist. Bad cops will encounter decent humans and turn on them. Just as bad humans will and do turn on good cops.

They aren't. They are DEMONSTRABLY not isolated and what's worse.........is that when they happen, they are almost always DEFENDED by the departments until absolutely impossible to do further.

Hell. Quite often, they'll LOSE the lawsuit and the department will CONTINUIE to defend the actions.

Have you caught the newest scam cops have come up with for removing you from the car and searching.

"Furtive Movements".

They pull you over. As is pretty common, person who was pulled over learns over to their glove compartments to get insurance and registration.

Cop says this is leaning over and "reaching for something and "furtive movements" which gives them probable cause to think you are hiding something.

There have to be like 50 videso from across the nation using the "furtive movements" language which is hilarious because prior to 10 years ago, you probably couldn't have found 100 people on the planet who'd ever used the words "furtive movements" in normal conversation!

Ok, but as a person pulled over by the police, you have to obey the officer’s commands. It’s this arguing and resisting that increases the risk of a bad experience with law enforcement.

It is impossible for me to overstate just how rancid this point of view is. Just, utterly disgusting really.

Her being slammed to the ground wasn't enough for you? She still needs punishment from her parents?

And you think instigation absolves abhorrent behavior? If I'm a smart arse to the drive thru employee does that mean it's ok for them to spit in my food?
