During WW2, when Britain was getting their shite pushed in & asked us to save them, they agreed to turn over their colonial/foreign bases to us.
That's when we became an empire and (most of) the world's police, while England became a shell of its former self, but smartly no longer spends lives or money defending these shithole countries.
