I’m stating the obvious, but this is extremely dumb. IT can see pretty easily if there’s actually a problem.

How often does this happen that she’s even bringing it up as a “hack”? I’m fully remote & I’ve never had anyone ask me if Teams is down (nor has it ever been down).

I have had to send the occasional "Sorry, give me 5 minutes. I haven't used Teams in a while and its pushing through an update" Then when I am on, I always have to acknowledge it's my fault for waiting until the last minute before firing it up.

Of course, I probably use video calls less than 5-10 times a year

Her hack for that:

1) Turn into angry, black woman
2) Accuse IT worker of racism

Not always, but even if so every IT department I've worked with just chalks anything like that up to user error, internet connection not being great at the time, or something else.
