It always interesting to me, especially in Olympic sports, how one person can be this much more dominant than everyone else.
We've seen it over the last couple decades with Phelps, Bolt and Ledecky, and now with Mondo. It's just crazy to me because, other than Bolt, it's not like any of the other three look physically dominant than their competition, but then it's like they are playing a whole different sport from the rest.

the world record was 6.14 from 1994-2016 and then Lavillenie pushed it to 6.16m and that stuck till 2020. Duplantis has pushed it all the way up to 6.24 and no one seems to be close. hes literally generational.
The most Olympic gold
medals is only 2. if Mondo wins another he’s in rare air, and he’s a great age to be in prime form for a 3rd.

For alot of the Olympic type sports, I think it’s a combo of a generally small talent pool of people who actually have access & financial ability to do the sport + being from a long line of athletes in the sport who brings their kids into them early.
You have that rare combo of talent + athleticism + familial knowledge of the sport with Mondo when it all comes together to give us the goat of the sport essentially.
