Never had em any other way. Sucks you can get the country bacon grits up here in yankee land.

1 cheese/1 butter will do tho

Take your instant grits to the next level, add some cream cheese or hogshead cheese.

My toddler loves grits unfortunately, so I make them just about every morning. Stovetop grits only take about 5 min and I can get crazy with it and melt all kinds of cheese in there.

Nothing wrong with instant grits though, but I can’t justify the cost vs time even if it’s just a few bucks.

They have a place, but it is usually on a kids plate. It doesn't take that long to cook proper grits, if you have about 15-20 minutes. Every Saturday morning I make cheese grits and eggs. My youngest is 5 and always eats them with me. The others are about 50/50 if they want either, but he always does. This past Saturday he even asked me if we had time to cook grits. He will ask for them during the week sometimes and I have to tell him we don't have time since he's getting ready for school. But he knows we have them on Saturday and looks forward to it.

No instant grits in my house. I don't usually eat breakfast except on weekends when the wife doesn't have to rush out for work.

I'll either cook a small pot of real grits or make some homemade hash browns for us to have with some bacon, eggs and toast.

Sometimes I'll mix it up a bit and do shrimp and cheese grits----but never instant grits.

Instant grits suck, but the 5 minute grits work well.

5 minute grits are too grainy. You have to cook them down for an hour and get them creamy. I reserve making grits only on the weekends for this reason. It’s the only correct way to eat them

I like instant grits just fine but usually end up cooking them longer anyway just to make more creamy. I love grits overall.

Hell naw.

But one thing that's really good is replacing the water with chicken broth and adding smoked Gouda at the end.

Nah!

Cooked with whipping cream and a little cheese mixed in, creates the perfect creamy texture!
