Every clip I see on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok is just some person doing an awful job at crowd work.

It is very difficult for a comedian to come up with an original 30-1 hr set. If they showed their actual jokes on these social media clips there is no incentive for folks to attend the shows.

This

Unless it was a clip from an already released special, you will not see much else from legit comedians on social media as they refine their bits, or at least that's what I've learned from listening to Rogan.

I always get a chuckle when people don't get this and just say "all comedians do now is crowd work". No, that's just all they show on social media because their set took them years to create. I've seen several in interviews say a lot of people come into their show and immediately expect them to do crowd work when they've spent years creating their 1/2-1 hour sets. The crowd work is just 5-10 minutes at the end of the show. Yes, it's all they show on social media, but that's because they've spent years on that set. Why give it away just so you can hear it again?!
