There is an old store building built in the 1940’s on one of our farms. Was planting a field behind the store and noticed a marble sticking out of the dirt. When I bent down to pick it up there was part of a ring showing beside it and I pulled it out of the ground. It was a class ring from 1959. The year my dad graduated. After cleaning the inside out I realized it had my father’s initials inside! Pretty crazy I was the one to find it all these years later. He started dating my mother when he went to college and she said he did not have a class ring then. I remember my dad talking about hanging out at that store a lot when he was younger. I can’t believe it was not crushed as much heavy equipment that I have driven over that exact area.

Even if you’re working in that area A LOT, that kind of thing is not “bound to happen” so easily.

What a find, and great pics as usual.

That's crazy man. Congratulations!
I lost my class ring playing football in our own backyard and never did find it.
What about the marble though?

I bet a good metal detector could find some cool stuff around those old store locations in Madison County.

Ring been in dirt for (edited to 64) years and you randomly find it uncovered laying there?

I’m a 1981 Hazel Green grad. That’s an amazing find.

That’s providential! Crazy it didn’t sink lower after all those years.

Please tell me your dad is still alive and you're going to clean it up and give this to him for Father's day?

Cool find. Is your dad still alive, and if so, I bet he'd be very surprised at your find.
The only thing I find when tilling my backyard garden are playing marbles from time to time and if the tiller doesn't nick them up, I toss them in a jar. So far I've found a couple dozen of them over the years.

Very cool. A sign that your pops is still around watching over you.

I know people here who still find dozens of Indian arrowheads in tilled fields every year. You’d think they’d be chopped up or all found by now
Blows my mind
