Sit in a room of travel ball parents and you won't think this way for long. Of course HS sports should matter more than club sports but these people don't care about the team just their kid.

i know several high school kids that quit their hs team to focus on showcases. that's where the scouts are.
high school ball will always matter more to the average kid that won't play past 12th grade, but kids with legitimate chances of playing at the next level (and their parents) want to play where theyll be seen by the most talent evaluators.
