Why have them? Kids don’t get the playing time they expected or are not happy with where they are on the depth chart so they hop in the portal.

They are not money markers, so will coaches eventually just just them as another practice day?

NFL Preseason games on network TV have better ratings than MLB and NBA playoff games

They’re not going anywhere

It's fun to get out and enjoy a Gameday atmosphere, especially if you don't normally have the resources to go to regular season games. It's a great family environment because of this.

Ohio State sold 80,000+ tickets this year.

Isn’t it better to have that disgruntled kid leave now vs be unhappy this fall and disrupt the locker room?

Isn’t this a good way to build fan engagement which can contribute to collectives?

Isn’t this a big recruiting tool when for example OU had 80+ recruits on hand and got 3 commits right after?

Isn’t this better than a practice? Where new coaches can be evaluated and learn things? And true freshman can see the college game speed vs HS?

I say yes, they are worth it.

Lack of preseason hitting and practicing coupled with less participation in preseason games has resulted in the first month of the season being horrible football.
