Football Spring games - Are they worth it anymore?

Why have them? Kids don’t get the playing time they expected or are not happy with where they are on the depth chart so they hop in the portal.

They are not money markers, so will coaches eventually just just them as another practice day?

But they seem very boring

Isn’t it better to have that disgruntled kid leave now vs be unhappy this fall and disrupt the locker room?

Isn’t this a good way to build fan engagement which can contribute to collectives?

Isn’t this a big recruiting tool when for example OU had 80+ recruits on hand and got 3 commits right after?

Isn’t this better than a practice? Where new coaches can be evaluated and learn things? And true freshman can see the college game speed vs HS?

I say yes, they are worth it.
