The numbers say we are the 6th or 7th best hitting team in baseball. Hell we are 4th in wRC+

The Astros are tied for 20th in runs scored. That's the one offensive stat they count.

But I'll play along. With RISP, the Astros are 17th in BA, 21st in OBP and 22nd in OPS.

Exactly. We've had slumps like this before too. You are just panicking more because it's the beginning of the year

This team was 22-22 in its last 44 regular-season games last year, and 6-5 in the playoffs. A 28-27 record over 55 games.

As mediocre as that is, that team never went 7-19 over a 26 game span. They did split their first 36 games. The high-water mark of the season was 20 over .500 at 82-62, which means they went 8-10 in the final 18 regular season games. And they had to win 5 of the last 6 in the last week of the regular season to make the playoffs or that slide would have been worse.

Adding this year's 7-19 record to that 28-27 finish last year, and this team is 35-46 over its last 81 games, which is half of a regular season.

This is a bad team, as constructed. When you start to say "we just need X and X and X to improve", that's a bad team. The chances all three phases will be better and click all at once and continue to click all season are slim.

Nailed it. It was a good run. It's time to rebuild so we can start a new one.

Unfortunately Crane thought we were just one $95 million reliever away

And my question is (and admittedly I’m not as up on the advanced stats) what are they in the context of close games? What are we doing in the late innings? What happens when you back out the blowout wins vs Toronto (2) and Texas. Not asking for the research. Just rhetorical.

We’ve scored 3 runs or less in 16 of 26 games. Can get away with that with lights out pitching. We don’t have that…and on the few games we do, we usually can’t even get to 3.
