Wasn't it nicknamed The Hitler Channel because all the show's it had on about Hitler?

Much of their programming came from tUK. The English understandably are -- or at least were -- preoccupied w/WWII. Thus they produced a lot of docs on the subject.

THC would take those docs, slap on an American narrator, and voila! A HC doc.

That is why tHC had so much "The German Panzers moved inexorably toward Rheims..."
