I believe that some kind of hominid like Bigfoot existed in the past, but I don’t believe he’s still running around the backwoods of the US
ETA or anywhere else on earth

Legend has it some mad scientist in the marshes of Terrebonne crossed the DNA of humans with nutria to make better nutria pelts. They made one it was destroyed in a fire after rampaging the swamps and the recipe was lost in the marsh when the scientist was drowned in the marsh.
Oh wait that is the plot to a movie.
