If they truly think Penix is a franchise qb it was a great move. They have the money to pay cousins for a couple years. Take some cracks at getting good qb play now and in the future. If nothing else you need good okay to see if Pitts,London, etc are worth paying in the future.

Not like you’re in a juggernaut division. Who cares if it’s slightly less efficient for a year or two.

The money would be better allocated to paying for some defense if you think Penix is a franchise QB.
If you think Penix is a franchise QB you sign a bridge QB for a couple years not a guy for 4 yrs 180.

No. It wasn't. That's what everyone is saying

The best part about drafting a young quarterback is you get a quarterback on his rookie deal. The Falcons MIGHT get one year out of Penix on a rookie deal. At that point, all of their other stud skill guys will be on big contracts and they won't even be able to pay Penix at that point.

Signing Kirk and drafting Penix, when looked at as one roster move, is one of the dumbest things an NFL franchise has literally ever done.
