Total bs. It was a double and fan was 2 ft from the ball. How they determined the fan interfered was nothing short of questionable guessing from Bham trying to give their no 1 darling a chance

You are right. There is no way they can make that call without definitive video evidence, and they didn’t have that.

Can we get a close enough camera shot to break it down frame-per-frame? If we can use the standard frame rate (24 fps), we may see the truth. If not, it's only a drop in the bucket when looking at the effects after winning anyway.

I agree horrendous call. But, let’s take a look at all similar calls throughout College and MLB over the years. You would think fans would learn not to reach over the damn fence no matter if on field. Don’t let them make it a “possible” call.

Doubt they are aware of any of that. I don't really fault them, especially understanding the gap between that fence and the wall. It's easy to say don't reach, but seeing the field actually made me understand how they could try to catch it.

I hate to say it, but watching that twitter video at 0.25x, I think they may have a case. The guy is leaning on the fence with his arm extended, and I think he can reach over the wall like that. I can't tell if he touches the ball or not (the glove does seem to move, but the ball doesn't appear to change course); but he does get close and possibly impede the fielder's vision of the ball. That might be what they called.
