Periodically while travelling, I'll stop at a starbucks for a coffee. Over the last couple of years, when I'd order a cup of dark roast black coffee, i'd get a dirty look and a "we don't have a dark roast right now". Sometimes they'll offer to do a "pour over", which is simply making a cup of coffee.

Apparently, if you only want coffee, simple black coffee, its a PITA for them. I guess they only want to make the sweet, fru-fru, caramel wakanda drinks.

I agree, if they are to stay relevant, start making coffee again.

It's more the fact that their mainstay are espressos and espresso-derived drinks. Fresh drip coffee may not always be readily available. I do agree that it should be.

I don't find this to be accurate. I've never had a problem getting black coffee or black cold brew at starbucks
