I had a CharBroil grill in the 80s that was a magnificent grilling machine, but they are dog squeeze now. Buy the Weber, and don't waste time worrying about it.
The Weber design is very good, like a BGE without the ceramic insulation, and they make quality products. I have a Primo that I love, but I have cooked on a Weber a few times and can definitely recommend them.

Weber's customer service is great as well. I've had mine for 15 years.
The main tub/body is steel, but some type of ceramic paint over the top. Mine started to rust through in a couple of spots - They sent me a new one under warranty - even though warranty is only 10 years.

I got a Weber Genesis in 2007. It’s lasted with me through 4 moves and a lot of use. I replaced the flavorizer bars once kept it out of the rain, and it’s as good as new.

Get yourself a Weber 22” and a box of your favorite beer, some Air Monarchs and a couple of good WW2 history books and then you’ll be certified here.
I can recommend one book called Tennozan. It’s kinda hard to find the out of print version of it but evidently there’s a new version on amazon now. It’s about the naval battles of the pacific in WW2. Great story about The Grey Ghost and it’s just loaded with great first hand accounts of the legendary pacific naval battles between the US and Japan in WW2.

I bought my Weber kettle in 2009 and have left it in the yard uncovered since. It shows no rust and looks new, outside of some dust.
You don’t live in Louisiana, if it’s been uncovered and hasn’t rusted.

Weber quality makes it much better.
I think some of their models are made in China, so you need to research which ones. I think...

No … just get a chargriller from tractor supply.. get the three component one.. charcoal-gas-smoke box.. get a cover.. mine has outlasted all my friends that swore by their Weber and eggs..
Maintain it with cover and clean it..
Fwiw.. left it for the new owner when I sold that house .. he wanted it..
I use a table top traeger for most things now… but empty nester now..

I've got two weber kettle charcoal grills that are 15 years old and still look brand new. Every couple years I'll change out the ash cleanout scrapers and the grates. For the money you really can't get a better grill.

The older Weber's maybe, but I had mine covered and took care of it and it's rusted, misshapen, and I need to buy a new one.
This one I bought back in 2019 and it's already crap.

Absolutely. A good analogy would be is a Kimber better than a Hi Point?

I'll fight you over my kettle.

I have had a Weber Performer kettle for 10+ years and treat it kind of like shite and it’s still fricking great. Grill grates rusted due to me leaving them in my yard for a week in the Summer and they replaced them without question when I made a warranty claim
Great manufacturer

I have 4 weber grills, 3 22" and one Ranch. A Weber Kettle is one of the best cooking utensils you will ever buy. It will last a lifetime if you take care of it.
For smoking meat, I use the Ranch.
For the three 22", 1 is stock, 1 is set up with a rotisserie and one is set up with a Santa Maria attachment.
For everyday grilling, I use the one with the Santa Maria attachment 90% of the time. I love the ability to control the heat at the grate.

That's the cool thing about a kettle, all the attachments, kits, and conversions.

Kettles actually work pretty well as a smoker if you are willing to baby it every hour. Best turkey I ever did was on a 22" Kettle with a Smokenator 1000

Yes. Weber quality makes it much better. Charbroil is shite. Components will break. It's not well made. Webers last 10 years or more if you take care of it.
This right here all day long. I've had my Genesis over 20 years and only had to change the grates and flavorizer bars. It's a cooking machine and worth every penny.

You’ll never regret getting a Weber.
