Israel ultimately decides our Middle East policy. It’s partly because of the very large number of Jewish Zionists in government, and their influence on policy. But it’s also because of the large sums of money that Israel disburses through AIPAC. Most of Congress is effectively on their payroll via campaign donations.

As a result we end up enacting polices that benefit Israel, but do not benefit the US. The war in Iraq is a good example. It cost us more than 4,000 lives, 32,000 wounded, and more than two trillion dollars. Israeli lobbying is also why we tried to overthrow Assad, and it’s why we’re fighting the Houthi now.
