Hurd was literally given the Friday night starter job.

I don’t know why everyone claims he’s the biggest disappointment. He was all over the place last year. He was good against Texas early then disappeared. He was erratic and never consistent throughout the rest of the season. Yes, he had a wonderful game in the game that mattered most, but he never demonstrated the ability to be a consistent, disciplined, dominant starting pitcher. Ever.

From all accounts, he had a good fall And Winter.
I don’t think he was “given“ the job.
Jump wasn’t ready as we all know.
What to expect him not to give any innings this year is what disappoints the most. He was unreliable, across-the-board.
