When av gas was less than $2 a gallon and flying for max fuel efficiency it really didn't cost that much to run a 150 or 172 and do this.
Probably get 9 gallons an hour.

Yeah, it's similar to what they used to do at the old SRS bomb plant in South Carolina. They would give you a card at the gate when you entered with the time stamped on it and when you got to the other end you had better be within a certain time window or they'll be wanting to know what the hell you've been doing.

They don't do it anymore, you can just drive through without stopping at a gate at all, or at least on Hwy 125 anyways
