I agree.

Top 8 with a combination of P4/P5 conference champs and at-larges.

Top 4 teams get a home quarterfinal home game on NYE and NYD. This round would be fricking amazing.

Remaining 4 teams use current 4 team playoff format with rotating locations.

It is perfect.

Same, but I'm fine with 12 as long as they don't expand and water it down even more. Move to 16 or more and we'll have teams that have no business being in the playoffs due to their season performance, and making the playoffs will be no great accomplishment for the ones who should be in. I guess some teams will still have a shot at a bye or home field, but that isn't quite the same as being in an exclusive field of 8-12.
