If the Cubs really want to mindfrick Ronald, they'd intentionally walk Short to load the bases for him. Since his mind is clearly on things other than baseball this season, he'll strike out.

FTR, Acuna did not swing on that check just now. But umpires really need to get off their high horses throughout the whole league. There's no reason to toss someone from the 3rd base dugout when you're umpiring 1st base. He couldn't even hear what he was saying. Just be like other sports, let people chirp from the bench, and move on with the game. No one is there to watch you make calls.

TV cameras very, very clearly caught Counsell telling the ump to shut up after the ump got a call right. He earned that ejection.

While you're right about umpires, maybe nowadays, managers should look at the 10 screens they have in the dugout instead of yelling across the field about a call that the manager has a worse view of.
The whole dog and pony show of managers and umpires arguing for theater was stale 10 years ago.

He didn't swing. The ump told Counsell he didn't swing. Multiple times. The ump was correct. Counsell told the ump to shut up.
I'm usually the last one to defend umpires, but frick Counsell in that situation.

And that was definitely a case a Counsell sticking up for his guy who hadn't gotten a call in a bit. There's some strategy behind these managerial tirades. I don't think Counsell meant to get run in this case, but he needed Shota to hear him taking up for him.

Why is Counsell continuing to ask if he swung even after the ump told him he did? Counsell had a shitty view of the play and continued to whine even though he clearly had a terrible angle of the play.

I'm pretty sure he could throw a 90 mph fastball middle/middle on every pitch one time through this order and get five strikeouts. This lineup blows.
