I think everybody realizes it’s expensive but I think a lot of folks don’t understand how expensive. The cost difference between replacing the uninsulated lines hanging from poles when they get damaged vs. running an entirely new grid underground using larger insulated wire in oil-filled conduit is massive.
Overhead power grid is a national security risk...

In all honesty, you have kind of painted it yourself. An eyepatch wearing, peg- legged lineman, with a guitar.

You can only pull so far before the wire would try to stretch. You need a manhole every so often and possibly sectionalizers for when you splice sections if regular splices are not allowed.
Conduit can be bored to keep it deep but you have to come back up to hit the manholes.
Seen 13.8kV and 4160v require 300’ between manholes

Still out n the BBT for me. We usually get it after the front ( JT ). I’m headed out to find coffee Only one big branch down in my yard and other than my underwear, no major damage. Looks like I have a day off. What ever shall I do with this day ?

Who’s still out of power?
Checking the outage map and it doesn’t look to be getting any better

Still no power. Crews are working in the neighborhood but no power.

No power in Woodridge/Briarwood still.
And still no estimate on when it might be back.

Power is back in my neighborhood off Stanford. Generator at my house the only one still running and now power at the meter. Feel like I’m gonna be in limbo awhile.

Me too. Didn’t we used to be connected thru Pecue (which has power) and they rerouted us because of the construction? I think they said that’s why the street lights haven’t been working at the entrance.

You’d think that area would be one of the first back up with entergy’s office just over the railroad tracks and also being so close to Woman’s
