Well I know that many National Parks are now using a registration system for people because of overcrowding and I see tons of new vehicles on the roads, so many people are still spending.
Social media is exposing people to places they'd never have thought to visit. They see someone else's photos from a trip and decide they want to go there too. Hence the need for reservations to avoid overcrowding at some parks now. I'll admit that there's a handful of places I'd like to go visit that I hadn't known about until seeing FB posts from old acquaintances I probably haven't actually seen or spoken to in years.
