Red light camera tickets

Just curious, wasn't there some kind of lawsuit challenging the validity of the city to collect fines for these? Asking for a friend.

A lot of states will call it a civil charge to avoid due process issues. It's a racket by the state to make more money under the guise of public safety.
I have always said the moment they start sending fine money to the state general fund is the moment you stop this business of making LEO de facto tax collectors.

yes and they won, they cannot enforce red light tickets because they cannot prove who the driver was.
thats why everyone says dont pay them, they arent enforceable under the law, they depend on idiots to pay them when they get threatening letters in the mail

Got one in Florida on a rental car and the rental company paid it and charged my card 
It was for a rolling right turn on red.
Nothing I could do about it. I wasn't even driving the car. It was one my wife's sisters who borrowed it.

same. or sort of. I got one in my company car, which was then charged to my corporate cc and I had to pay that out of pocket. I was so annoyed.
