Just found out from Baton Rouge Water Co. that their nearest line is ~900 feet away, and that is where they will install their meter. The line from the meter to my property will be my responsibility.

Any idea on what running a line (1-1/2" to 2") this far will cost? Trenching isn't likely an option due to existing obstructions, trees, etc. Directional drilling may work depending on the cost.

Internet search is not helpful as the price range is very wide. If it truly cost $200 a foot for this line this is going to be a deal killer.

You probably need to post your location. It won’t be cheap, there’s a reason most people live close to the road in the country.

Is well water a possibility?

I’d go with 2 500 foot rolls of black PE pipe to get to your place. No idea the cost.

Water line is pretty flexible. Just route through the obstructions. Boring would cost a fortune.

backhoe and some pipe. I did 1000' for about 2k a couple of years ago. this was with PVC. thought about a trencher but settled on the backhoe and it was a much easier job

Hire a guy with a mini excavator to dig your trench then buy 2 rolls of 500’ pex and lay/backfill yourself.

I don’t have a guess but if I did it would be exponentially less than 180 grand.

The water company should put the meter on the edge of your property.

Then you should pay to have a water line run to your house. A 1-1/2” or a 2” should be fine.
A local boring company should be able to do this at a lot less than 100 bucks per foot.

Can it be trenched with a machine or are there tree roots etc? Have to go under any concrete or is it a straight shot. You would need to give some more details, but with 1 1/2 pvc etc could be done for $3,300 if subbed out or less if you can do that work yourself
