I graduated in '03 and didn't miss a home game in the four years I was a student. It saddens me that all the students don't have the opportunity to go to all the games anymore. It saddens me more that the stadium was so empty on TV on Saturday. (I know it was raining, but man, it looked really thin.)
I would certainly cough up the arm and a leg that TAF charges for the chance to watch football in Tiger Stadium again, but I live 900+ miles away now. Last year, I went to the Florida game, sat in Gator territory and cheered the entire time they laid 50 on us. I did that because LSU is MY school, and win or lose, I'm damn proud to be a Tiger.
I go to Dolphins games on occasion. It's nothing compared to LSU, and that's what scares me. This athletic arms race has heated up to the point in which students don't get the opportunity to watch their classmates play. That connection to the guys on the field and to the place they represent, that's the magical part of college sports. It would be a real shame to diminish that magic for the sake of more well-paid-for, empty seats.

It's been that way for at least 25 years.
You think the student section had a capacity of 27,000+ in the 80s?
