Truth hurts

Truth isn't determined by 1 game a season as it is defined by an entire season.

2000- LSU Pass Defense was 60th gave up 216 Yards Per Game 15 Touchdowns and 9 Interceptions

2001- LSU Pass Defense was at its worse, 108th 279 Yards Per Game, 25 Touchdowns and 18 Interceptions

2002- LSU Pass Defense was 2nd 152 Yards Per game 13 Touchdowns and 17 Interceptions

2003- LSU Pass Defense was 18th 185 Yards Per Game 12 Touchdowns and 21 Interceptions

2004- LSU pass Defense 5th 157 Yards Per Game 16 touchdowns 14 interceptions

Miles was also not rebuilding a program and attempting to lure recruits after 2 straight losing seasons either.
If you are going to determine how good a unit of defense was based on 1 game a season I can point out plenty of games over past 5 years where we were horrible.

2008 15 TD passes given up.
2009 13 TD passes given up.

When it comes to interceptions. I don't need to look at those seasons to agree with you the turnovers were up.

However, I do believe Miles is rebuilding a program now with the coaching losses, fires, and upper classmen QB that was kicked off the team. Hatch was a sophomore in 2008 along with Lee (RSFR). Simply not enough experience to win the big games consistently.

The Pass Defense ranking in 2009 was 29th. Which means we're headed back in the right direction.

Again my point was you mentioned 2 games to say the secondary was not great. Over the course of those seasons it wasn't they were bad, they just had bad games. You can have a defense that is legit in all aspects of the game and have 1 bad game yet they are still good.

Pelini did keep the defense legit up until his departure. He really understood how to generate pressure. They were a Top 10 defensive unit under his watch.

2010 is no doubt a rebuilding year. Whether you like Les or hate him, next year 9 wins is a MAJOR positive. I'm telling you guys, we lost a lot of experience. We are a year away from being special.... really special. But its still a year away. Get used to saying it now.

I agree that the QB spot is at the heart of this so call mediocre record.

If 2010 is a rebuilding year & 9 wins is a "major positive" then how many of you are OK with this?

2008-sucked (rebuilding?)
2009-mediocre (rebuilding?)
2010-rebuilding?

really?
A Nat'l Title program...3 years rebuilding?

both our lines should be much improved.
how so?

We lose several D-line starters from a weak D-line.
either LM doesn't play younger, better players or the best players were playing.
If LM doesn't play younger, better players then obviously that's a problem.
If the best players were playing, then why would next year be better when we lose 3 starters and the younger players weren't good enough to play on the mediocre D-line this year? Do you really think that all of them are going to get that much better in the off season?

Same goes with the O-line, except much worse.
Lose 2 multi-year starters (one being among the best ever at the school & voted best in the conference), being replaced by guys not good enough to play significantly on this past year's abortion of an O-line.

If you just choose to be optimistic, that's fine.
But the odds are not in the favor of the lines being much improved in 2010.
