Just thought it was interesting.

quote:

At what point in time in his career did he start looking into supplements?:
"It was 1996 and we were in the Super Regionals playing LSU. … I'm at Georgia Tech and we got beat 29-13. LSU, every single guy on the team looked like Lou Ferrigno. … We had weightlifting, but we didn't have supplementation."

Wouldn't surprise me. I had a team mate in high school that attended a LSU baseball camp in '96 said "everyone was freakishly huge and all had horrible backne (back acne). Maybe he was just pissed he didn't get offered.

The 1996 team is considered as one of the best college teams of all time.

I don't think he was referring to steroids. I think he was referring to supplementation only; the legal supps.

I'm thinking there were some roids in LF..... I think it would be really naive to think that everyone on that team was clean. Some were noticeable.

Bonds, Sosa and McGwire were not the only BB players on supplements at the time. And Andro was legal at the time, big back than, I think it helped recover from a big workout very fast, let you lift more. This is nothing new, still, no real proof and if you think GT wasn't doing the same thing, you're wrong.

Well, considering they were talkign about supps, then it appears eh was talkign about supps. Not saying they weren't on roids.

Maybe you are right I actually didn't read the rest

Still, alone it sounded like a tongue in cheek mention of supplements

That's when the creatine/andro boom happened as well.

very potent OTC compounds were available during this time like andro and other methylated compounds. Most are now banned. Anabolic Xtreme sold a compound that was the same exact molecular structure as Masteron. Compounds were also available at places like Smoothie King and GNC that converted to Dienolone wen injested. Some guys may have been on the real gas, but you could walk in Smoothie King back then and buy some pretty anabolic and androgenic compounds. Don't really call that cheating

Do you believe there was systematic use of steroids by that team? Honestly...

I think so. It was pretty much the rage back in the day.

I don't really blame him even if he was talking about more than just supplements. The bats weren't the only thing that was juiced in those days, and LSU wasn't the only one doing it. Remember the Alabama team that year? The only difference between those two teams from a HR standpoint was Larson.

I was at that game. One of the great arse kickings of all time. Roids had nothing to do with it.
