If Brees doesn't sign then the world will end on December 21st. They are a package deal.

So what is this supposed Saints coach saying? That miami is offering drew something? That Miami wants to trade for Drew? That Miami will attempt to sign Drew if he plays out the franchise tag this year?

It's easy to be confident when your information is so vague.

Also, if Brees is out for the season, to go along with Payton being suspended, how much of an effect do you think that'd have on the Saints high-powered offense?

...they will not be the same team that we are use to watching because these are the two men that drive the boat. With Drew, he can cover for some coaching mistakes/defensive mistakes (if we have any because we have a good group of coaches) but without him everything looks and will play different. The o-line will not look the same, wr's/rb's will not look the same and the defense will be on the field in different senerios (behind I would assume).

If the front office wont give him what he wants, he doesnt sign... He has all the leverage

No, he doesn't. Come July 16th, he's forced to play out the season under the franchise tag, or not play at all. The Saints can't sign him to a long term deal after that until the next offseason. He gains nothing sitting out any games, though he loses 1/16th of that $16.5m deal for every game he does.

I think the Saints end up giving him the deal he wants and deserves.

I am very aware of how the franchise tag system works. You think the FO has the leverage, I think Brees does.

The team and organization just took probably one of the biggest offseason blows in the history of football. Add the front office refusing to give their star qb and the savior of the franchise the contract that he wants when the sides are fighting over 1-2 mill and the city of new orleans would literally erupt.

If he doesnt get his contract, he isnt playing. With all of that said, he will probably get his contract.

I read earlier on a Saints forum that if the Saints didn't pay Drew that Miami has already informed Drew that they will give him whatever he wants.

Don't listen to Chad. The coaches aren't telling anyone but they are already aware of Miami's offers to Drew which is why we brought in Brian Brohm. Man, he was awesome at Louisville.

Drew can not talk to other teams and they cant talk to him under the rules of exclusive franchise tag so the Miami shite is not true. Damn yall stupid.

If Drew doesn't play this year he's gone. End of story. Thus Drew has even more leverage this year. With out Drew the Saints are back to where he found them! Wallowing in the gutters.

I bet Miami could talk to an intermediary of Drews agent!
There are ways around most rules!
