Not much going on...

The Entergy Outage Map just lit up a good bit, though. Looks to be the start of the power outages.

William Daniel of the BR mayor's office just said on channel 2 that all the levees on the Miss. River in Baton Rouge are in good shape.

Whew! That's a load off...

I have relatives in the False River area who are out of power and are relying on a generator. That's fairly routine for any rural Entergy customer, though.

They said light wind is all they've had so far.

Well, what I have been dreading has happened. My flight to Denver tomorrow afternoon has been cancelled. I'm not really surprised, but it was weird. I checked the flight on United's website and it showed up as on schedule. I checked my email because when they cancelled the first one, I got an email about it - no email. I did battle with their customer service number, the automated system said it was on schedule. I finally was able to be connected to a live person, and she said, "Oh, that flight has already been cancelled." So I'm disappointed because I'm missing a friend's wedding plus a chance to meet two online friends and the groom for the first time, not to mention missing out on being able to stay somewhere with electricity, hot water and working restaurants, but at the same time, if any damage should happen to our house in the storm, it would be a bad time to have to leave. This way I get a full refund on the plane fare, rental car and hotel.

On the happy side, I still have power.

I was just looking out in the yard. The neighbor behind us has a cypress tree that got hit by lightening back when we had that big thunderstorm. (I was asleep at the time when BOOM). He consulted an arborist who told him it would take two years to see if he could save it.

Anyway, the top two-thirds of it are now broken off and lying at an angle into the next door neighbor's yard. I'll have to try to get a picture.

Power just came back on in the Harelson/Cedarcrest area near Sherwood & I-12.

We were without for about 9.5 hours.
