thats next week. reread the fricking book. Alister sends Jon to treat with Mance (and kill him) AFTER the battle. Stannis shows up while Jon and Mance are talking and he has no clue whats going on.
The battle lasts like 5 months in the book, and it's clear Jon is doing things on his own accord here instead of being forced by Thorne and Slynt. This episode is still incredibly disappointing.

Seriously, no "STANNIS!!! STANNIS!!!!" Can any reader not say that this episode is an incredible disappointment? Nothing in this episode is good. Even Ygrete's death is completely glossed over. I still have no clue what happened to the Thenn's leader.
I don't think it's fair to criticize this until you see next episode. If they cover what they need to and don't leave stuff out, than who cares if it happens in ep 9 or ep 10?

They maintained the high bar that has been set for season 9. Well done.
I don't think so. Seriously, does anyone think this is even in the ballpark of any of the other Episode 9 shows?

Compare this to Blackwater. It's clear they only spent their money for giants and mammoths. That's it. Blackwater was so much better.

Yep. Pretty much hit almost everything from the books in one way or another. Not sure what the heck OML was expecting.

Please write some more letters to D&D about how they can make the show so much better according to you.

That scene in the courtyard when the camera panned all around the yard to show the fighting with no cuts was awesome.

Go watch Home Alone , omL. Quit your bitching.

Out of curiosity, how did you expect this episode to go?
Outside of them cutting short of Jon meeting Mance and Stannis showing up, it went pretty much like I thought it would go.
I thought they did a great job with the fight scene in the courtyard.

Blackwater pulled it off with a 2 minute Wildfyre scene. Honestly, what they should have done is intermingled Tyrion escaping and killing Tywin, as well as Stannis coming in (I can't believe I'm saying the later since it's obvious). Seriously, how much better would this episode have been if Stannis came in and Tyrion killed Tywin in it? I really think this may be the worst episode of the series (very easily the worst 9th episode in the series, I can't see an argument that it isn't), and there's nothing good or worthwhile about it. Ygritte's death is completely glossed over and I don't care.

Please change the thread title to: GOT S4:E9 "Frick the dialog"
Seriously, I liked this better than "Blackwater". But not as good as the Red Wedding or The Beheading.

cutting off to kings landing would have been terrible. this episode needed the battle at the wall. hell they combined 2 big arse battles into one, didn't need to take time away from anything.
theres still an hour left i don't understand your point of view on this at all

And Blackwater's the best episode of the series so far. If an episode is even close to that one, then it's fantastic.
Plus I'm glad "nothing happened" in this season's 9th episode. It was getting a little too predictable for the Hodors that some major, series-changing event would happen in episode 9. This battle was obviously important, but compared to what's coming next week it's minor. It'll be nice to not have a 10th episode that is largely just setting the stage for the next season (although some of that will obviously happen).
