It is the Curtiss Sparrowhawk and what he said, except it wasn't modified to hook to the blimp. It was built expressly for that purpose. Both the Macon and Akron carried them.

That's not a 229. There was only one Go-229 (Gotha was going to mass produce them) built and it never flew. That's one of the late prototypes after they went from props to jet power. He numbered them in sequence I, II, III, IV, V, etc but I don't know them well enough to say which one that is (other than it is a very late one).
