So book readers, why the frick is anybody supposed to care who Jon Snow's mother is? And why have book readers spent 5 years giggling and whispering "R+L=J" into each other's ears when it doesn't fricking matter?

R +L=J is exactly the reason the isn't any way in hell that Jon snow is dead

And GRRM has stated that LSH was an important character in order to prove that not only a dead person can be resurrected, but that it also changes the character's personality. So I still think he is resurrected, but is changed slightly (how I don't know).

What incentive would Mel have to bring Snow back?

There's a prophecy in the books regarding a guy named Azor Ahai. That he will basically be resurrected to save the world. There's some parallels between him and Jon Snow. Melisandre mentions earlier in the show that she believes Stannis is Azor Ahai.

I'd link the ASOIAF wiki but it's down right now.

Melisandre just wanted the Baratheons to burn.

No, for the simple reason that there are still a handful of Valyrian steel blades still left in Westeros. If it is an actual sword, I always thought it would be another sword that the show doesn't talk about (at least that I can remember). It was forged from different material, but is just as strong.

But I really think that Lightbringer is either the dragons or the Night's Watch.

Disagree. I think she misinterpreted the Lord of Light. She was meant to be with Stannis but only so that Stannis could bring her to Jon Snow.

I think it's interesting that it was talked about a bit tonight and we have concrete confirmation that Valyrian steel will frick a White Walker up.

There's a lot of moving parts to it. The prophecy tells that the one who becomes Azor Ahai will have to make a major "sacrifice" to bring forth Lightbringer. There's speculation for multiple characters (i.e. Dany, Stannis, Jon) in that regard.

Jon Snow isn't the only one that fits the Azor Ahai description. Dany does too depending on the interpretation. But there's enough speculation/suggestion that it could be Jon Snow that most readers don't think he'll stay dead.

Something else for non-readers to chew on (and speculation for the readers too) is that in order for Jon Snow to honorably exit his vows with the Night's Watch, he has to die. A death and resurrection would free him from his vows.

Yep. She was shaken at the wall. She has lost confidence in her faith or her visions at least

I think in Jon snows fire, she will see that he is AA and raise him from the fire and he will come up unharmed much like the Dany/dragon hatching scene

Plus there is the whole 3 heads of the dragon deal to factor into it. Did the show ever cover that part of the Prince that was Promised?

Nope. Read a book dude.

She never believed Stannis was truly AA. She burned his lords, killed his family and left him outnumbered and destined to die.

All of the threads are one now. It's a shitstorm wherever you go. Ha ha! Sweet chaos!!

And isn't there some debate about whether Azor Ahai and the Prince that was Promised are the same person? I know Aemon thought they were the same before he died, but it's never been clarified. Could be 2 different people.

I don't know how you could've watched her coming in, all non-verbal, and not assume she's pretty shaken. And the show has definitely changed motivations and moods from the books, so it doesn't HAVE to be in the book to be true on the show.

And in the book she lost confidence in her interpretations of her visions because of things she saw with "snow".

Hell, she couldn't even interpret her vision after she asked to see Azor Ahai, only to get a vision of snow (real snow, not Jon Snow ).

Her vision interpretation skills are pathetic.
