Yes, you can get above a 4.0, but you can also get a 3.7 for what used to be an A, therefore it all averages out. Overall averages will not be raised or lowered:
A+ 4.3
A 4.0
A- 3.7

Within 5 years A+ will be the new A and B- will be the new D

bullshite. Aside from a mega nerd, I've never heard of anyone in the long term benefitting from this. It will almost certainly lower GPAs. No one is excited to get a B+ since they just missed the A, and now this puts them even further from achieving a 4.0 than it did when he had the 89 and had negotiating room this time last year.
